Last week in our photography course we learned the proper way to conver to black and white.  I had just used the "convert to greyscale" in PSE, but that loses all the shadows and highlights.

This was supposed to be my photo for this coming Friday, the theme being "underneath".  I knew that this bridge flooded every year and thought it would be a perfect photo for this.  Unfortunately, only one end of the bridge is under water...maybe if we get more rain...

I have a new baby!  I have wanted a stand mixer for many, many years but they have always been out of my price range.  When I received the AMEX rebate from Costco earlier in January, I held on to it as I also received a coupon booklet for Costco with the stand mixers at $90 off.  In all, this beauty cost me $60!  And of course, it's in red!

Another broken bone in the family.  Rachel went skiing with Zack last week and fell on her hand.  Renfrew Hospital told her it was broken, but just ice & heat - no cast.  So she spent 5 hours at the Ottawa Civic waiting to see another doctor who put on a partial half cast that kept sliding off.  Saturday evening she went to Winchester Hospital and after 5 hours waiting, gave up and came home.  Sunday she tried again at Winchester and after a 4 hour wait this time, they put on a full cast finally.

Andy's sisters, Barb (and her husband Bob) & Margaret (and her husband Chuck) were in town for a few days, passing through on their way back to Nova Scotia.  We spent a sunny afternoon taking in the sights at the Winterlude Ice Sculptors competition.  And of course, we couldn't leave without a beaver tail!
