I was driving into Orleans today and I went past this barn. This little red fox was standing outside the barn near the piles of hay listening for mice. As soon as I stopped, it headed around the other side of the barn. This is the best I could do with a very shy animal!

I went down to Casselman today and decided to go a little further and check if the Snowy Owls are back for the winter. I had expected the side road to be wall to wall photographers as it was the last time I was there a few years ago and it was a nice sunny day too. No one was there today and this gorgeous bird was sitting on top of a hydro pole surveying the fields.

Rachel was heading out to Air Cadets tonight. As usual, the uniform is pressed. The pants have a edge so sharp they would cut you, boots are polished to a "see yourself" shine and the tie is straight. I look down and see these scuzzy old converse runners. What a picture! Reason? She was driving and didn't want to get her boots scuffed.

I was cleaning out some kiddie VHS videos yesterday and came across an old favourite. It was such a favourite with Rachel when she was 3, that she even had an imaginary friend named Toaster for a while.

A week after the ice storm, I had figured that all the ice had melted. Not so. This stand of mature birch trees near Casselman tells otherwise!

A few of us on another site have been playing around with a really neat photo effect. The instructions are found here:

http://www.kevinandamanda.com/whatsnew/tutorials/photography-tutorials/must-get-christmas-pictures-before-the-tree-comes-down.html

Our tree is already boxed and put away and I'm dying to try this next year. This is the best I could come up with, using the tree lights outside. I can't wait until next year when I can get some indoor photos using this filter!

It's snowing, and of course, that means that Bruno is in his favourite place - the middle of a snowdrift.
