I was just coming out of Michael's yesterday when Rachel called on my cell phone. Because I was driving, I pulled over into an industrial mall parking lot. As I'm talking to her, I hear a woodpecker in the trees and look up to see a Pileated Woodpecker. Not the best shots, but I only had my 24-70 on the camera. Where is my 400 when I need it?
These are not small shy woodpeckers. They are huge (larger than a crow) and he didn't seem at all concerned that I was watching him from the ground.

I had an hour to waste today when I was done at Costco, waiting for the library to open, so I took my lunch and camera and went to Beechwood Cemetary. This place is so peaceful and gorgeous this time of year. It was warm and very breezy and the sun kept peeking through the clouds. I could have stayed all day. I am going to come back next week when I have more time.

Every day that I drive by this tree, it makes me smile. It's so bright and in-your-face orange that I can't help it!
